TRAINING FOR GUIDERS ON TENDER FOOT BADGE 13TH -17TH JUNE 2016

VENUE: TAMBAZA SECONDARY SCHOOL

PARTICIPANTS: GUIDERS FROM RUVUMA, MARA, RUKWA, TANGA AND DAR ES SALAAM

A guider is a pillar of guiding as she is the main contact to the girls and young women in schools. The guider needs to have all the basics to be delivered in recruiting as well as guiding the girls.

The camping was prepared to enlighten to remind them and add more knowledge in guiding more called “Tender foot badge”

The training involved guiders from Rukwa, Mara, Ruvuma, Tanga and Dar es Salaam. A total number of 35 guiders.

The trainers were

6. Rehema Kijazi

-the principle of guiding

-history of guiding

-guiding signs

-guiding notes

-camping fire

-good turn

-flags

-on how to prepare the patients bed

-hiking

And many more fun activities were taught there. They had trainings in class and outdoor.

Exploration by the beach, visited Dar es Salaam zoo.

The event took five days and it was of a great outcome.

Ruth Namatanga shares her experience of this training. She is a young leader at the Headquarters

“She used to hear only on guiding but not knowing exactly what it was about. She understood guiding is fun more than anything else. She was able to tie a knot and at the same time she became a teacher to the other patrols. She had never thought she could be able to prepare a patients bed. She enjoyed that and got confidence. She learnt on Preparing camping fire and gadgets. She understood that being in a camp as a guide , you not have to make noise, its only using various signs in communication. It was fun and very enjoyable.

In conclusion a girl guide should be prepared at any time for anything”

Prisca  Mrimi shares her experience

“I learnt a lot of things that I was not aware of. Like how to set a campfire, how tie different kinds of knots. The most important thing, I got to know all about girl guide rules and regulations, When it started, how it started, interactions with YESS girls and there was a lot of fun. I wish we do it again”

Flora Msangi shares her experience. She is a secondary school teacher from Mara

“Being a new selected guider, this was a new nice thing to me. I learnt a lot on guiding. I saw how love is spread in the community by Girl Guides. I learnt the basics that will be of guidance in my guidance”
